OmniPathology Launches Educational Initiative to Raise Awareness About HPV and Throat Cancer
OmniPathology has launched a new educational video initiative focused on increasing public awareness about oropharyngeal HPV ~ a growing health concern associated with many throat cancers.
Hosted by Dr. Mohammad Kamal, the short-form educational videos are being shared across TikTok and YouTube to help answer common patient questions surrounding HPV infection, testing, cancer risk, prevention, and long-term health monitoring.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common viral infections worldwide, and certain high-risk strains have been strongly associated with the development of oropharyngeal cancers affecting the throat, tonsils, and base of the tongue. While many HPV infections resolve naturally, persistent infection with high-risk HPV strains may increase the risk of cancer development over time.
Through this educational initiative, OmniPathology aims to improve public understanding of:
What oropharyngeal HPV is
How HPV may contribute to throat cancer risk
The importance of monitoring persistent infections
What patients should do if they test positive
Prevention and risk-reduction strategies
The role of early detection and follow-up care
As part of its continued commitment to innovation in diagnostic medicine, OmniPathology has also developed a proprietary, patent-pending oral HPV test designed to help identify patients infected with 14 high-risk HPV strains associated with throat cancer development.
The non-invasive test utilizes a simple throat swab to collect cells that can be analyzed for high-risk HPV infection. By helping identify persistent infections, clinicians may be better equipped to monitor patient risk and guide appropriate follow-up care when necessary.
“Our goal is not only to advance diagnostic testing, but also to improve public awareness and education surrounding HPV-related diseases,” said Dr. Kamal. “Early education and early detection can play an important role in supporting better long-term health outcomes.”
Through ongoing education, advanced diagnostics, and continued innovation, OmniPathology remains committed to supporting physicians and patients with tools designed to improve awareness, accessibility, and early detection of emerging health risks.
